Helsinki Low2no camp follow up

Moi moi Campers! Greetings from Turin.

Thank you very much for your passion in joining the workshop last week and making it so productive. And tank you for having welcomed us, we really felt at our ease and eager to move the collaboration with you a step forward, to make your ideas real! We trust your engagement and your commitment and we are sure that also stakeholders and investors at the August roundtable will: we “just” need – together – to turn your concept into attractive solutions to recognizable opportunities.

To keep the development process tight and alive, we have in mind a framework of interaction and further deployment. It won’t be a piece of cake for you (why should it be?), but in turn you will eventually enjoy the exquisite intimate reward of having performed an enterprise at the best of your capacities and you will feel energized enough to uplift your ambitions :)

Given the distance among us, we would like to use the blog as hub to exchange for information, questions, answers, progresses, feedback, suggestions and tools. The blog must be a living environment where everybody can go to take inspiration or to give suggestions. Here you can post textual outcomes, pictures, sketches and drawings, presentation (by slideshare.com tool) and videos. We are also available to have a more direct conversation by Skype once a week. We would encourage you to book a time slot when we could share screens, revise works and give direct feedback. e-Mails are also free:) (irene dot cassarino at experientia dot com , luca dot troisi at experientia dot com)

1. Ready to go? If yes, please confirm your intention to go through the second stage posting a description of your idea. Concentrate on the what, how and why. It’s your first draft elevator pitch. Should be readable 30 seconds. Concentrate on the concept, the target, the need, what make you idea special/complementary with respect to alternative offer and how you intend to implement it.
Also, please name people on your team and try to assign roles. Who is the contact point? Who is responsible for what? Are any competences missing (you remember what Eeris provocatively said)?
Once you have agreed on a final title for your entrepreneurial idea, please create a category in the blog with that name and include any post related to your idea into the same category.

2. Besides the category, consider the following tags, which represent very important milestones/tasks on your path: research, stakeholders, idea_refinement, prototyping, presentation.
Research: it’s about discovering how others have addressed the same idea, collect inspiration/insights from different sectors of applications, investigating in details the needs that you are answering and the behavioural profile of your target users. Also, how should your project be sustainable? Don’t forget money.

Idea_refinement: once you elaborate significant insights, you might want to refine your concept, of part of it, and fix it with a post. Please do it, it’s worth it.

Stakeholders: that’s quite key. All your ideas don’t stand alone and will never be successful unless you put them in a network of functional relationships with other people/organizations/project/initiatives. Name them and try to make clear what is their role and how it could be leverage. Also, please concentrate on what you could bring to them. Most importantly: go and speak with them, and post a report about your conversations!

Prototyping: how can you make your project more tangible through the process of idea development? A prototype (video, paper, real installation, beta version etc) has no rivals in terms of communication power! Concentrate on what you can do, share possible options, and do it.

Presentation: together with the prototype, it’s the silver tray of your project. Make sure it’s convincing and engaging. If you browse the web you find tons of best practices. Don’t do it at the very last moment and start from the message: what you want to deliver. Then sew a tailored and cool dress for it and eventually wear it, proudly and charmingly!

Planning: please share with us and your team mates a reasonable plan of action, with milestones and expected achievements, heading to the end of August and, most importantly, beyond.

Each of these tasks is iterative in nature, so please keep posting and posting into these streams until you find confident enough with your achievements. We will contribute with comments, references, answers and overall with questions and questions for you to invigorate your brain:)
And of course, again, please feel free – if you need a direct dialogue – to contact us via mail/skype.
We are also available for a mid term meeting, just check the carbon/utility balance.

By the end of June 2011, we expect to have all the concept that want to move forward presented (category: title of you idea, tag: idea_refinement) – see step 1 – and at least a draft action plan to performs a proper research, collects insights, develop a prototype and craft a presentation for the end on August/first week of September (a precise date will follow, together with a list of attendants).

Kiitos! Irene e Luca
